The four supported national midwifery schools are in South and Central Somalia: Baidoa, Kismayo, Mogadishu, and Galgadud, which has been fully functional during this period.
The Mogadishu Midwifery Training Institute offers two levels of midwifery training: basic midwifery training for high school graduates and qualified nurse midwifery training for university graduates. while other schools only provide basic midwifery training for secondary school graduates for three years.

1 - OVERVIEW OF ENROLLMENT PROCESS

Every year, the federal ministry of health conducts a national enrolment process for midwifery education. Enrolments are open for nurse graduates who are willing to join the 18-month comprehensive midwifery Programme to become qualified nurse midwives, and candidates who have completed secondary school education to join the direct entry midwifery Programme with a duration of 3 years.
The federal ministry of health, together with the support of UNFPA, ensures that the candidates sitting for the entry exam come from different states to ensure equity of opportunity in different rural settings to increase midwifery services upon their graduation.
The school’s enrollment in Mogadishu and Baidoa was held in September 2022 to select students for the academic year in Banadir, Bay, Bakool, and Middle Shabelle regions.

2 - 16 DAYS OF END VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN & GIRLS

Terre Solidali is very committed to the fight against GBV, gender-based violence and in contrast to SEA (Sexual Eploitation and Abuse)
In commemoration of the days of violence against women and girls, all schools participated in 16 days of activism to end violence against women and girls.
The goal of 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence is to increase public awareness of violence against women and girls and the harm that it causes, particularly to refugees, returnees, and internally displaced people.

3 - TELEMEDICINE COURSES

Some of the school’s tutors have participated in the telemedicine online training program, which is famous in Europe and trains health workers such as nurses, midwives, health care tutors, and physicians. This is an important platform for national midwifery schools to find capacity-building and highly experienced professors from outside their own country.
The last session was about the introduction of gender-based violence and psychological consequences, in which they participated in a live discussion.
